Basic Question for ORS:

Q - In Online Registration Editor, when a student is approved, we noticed that the system tries to check if this is a previously enrolled student. If it encounters a suspected match, it gives an alert and asks do you want to match the ORS student to the previous student. On what information does the Online Registration Editor try to determine if the student being approved is a match for a previously enrolled student?

A - The following audits will create possible matches when approving a student:

1). Student with same first and last name, gender and birth date
2). Possible SSN match: Applicant has 123-45-6789, possible match is a student where any one digit is different (113456789, 123446789, etc.)
3). Transposed side-by-side number in SSN: Applicant has 123-45-6789, possible match is a student with SSN of 124-35-6789, 123-54-6789, etc.
4). First 3 letters of applicants first and last name with a matching birth date. Applicant is Briana Stevens with birth date of 3-1-2010, possible match may be Brian Stephenson with birth date of 3-1-2010. --Bri, Ste, 3-1-2010
