Below is a listing of commonly used SBLC Codes.

F Retained- Student not promoted
T Retained- Failed to Pass Exit Exam (Seniors)
  • Use when a Senior Student has passed all Carnegie Units, and only has to pass testing to graduate.
  • NOTE: This student would also have a Leave code for last day of school with a leave code of 22 17 E Finished all but EOC/GEE Completed Carnegie Rqmts not EOC/GEE
X Retained- Decision By School Committee-SBLC
B Retained- Due to Parental Request
  • Also sometimes used with Self Contained Special Ed student.
V Retained- Due to Attendance Violation
P Promoted- Placed By School Committee-SBLC
S Promoted- Pending Summer School
Z Retained- Pending Summer School
C Promoted- Pending Course Credit
L Retained- Failure of State Testing - LEAP grade 04
  • Student is retained in grade 4 due to failing LEAP 21 test.
E Retained- Failed LEAP - Option I Elementary grade 08
  • Student is retained in grade 8 due to failing LEAP 21 test.
H Retained- Failed LEAP - Option II HS Campus (obsolete, do not use)
G Promoted- Failed LEAP - Option III HS GED Path (obsolete, do not use)
O Promoted - Administrative Assignment
A Retained - Administrative Assignment
D Retained - Insufficient Carnegie units (Seniors)
  • Senior Student passed tests to graduate, but is lacking Carnegie Units to earn diploma.
Q Promoted- Promoted due to limited retention
J Retained- In Grade 8 on High School Campus
N Retained- Failed both academic and LEAP
  • 4th or 8th grade student failed both course work and LEAP 21.
K Promoted- To grade 6 passed Coursework and LEAP
  • Use to promote a 4th grader on remediation to the 6th grade.
M Promoted- To grade 5 without Basic/Approaching Basic on LEAP
  • Use to promote a 4th grader on remediation to the 5th grade, even though the student did not completely pass LEAP 21.
R Promoted- To grade 5 passed Coursework and LEAP
  • Use to promote a 4th grader on remediation to the 5th grade after passing courses and LEAP 21.
I Promoted- Placed with intervention
U Promoted- To next grade without achieving LEAP requirements
W Retained- Insufficient grade information to promote
Y Retained- PROMOTED TO NEXT OPTION 3 GED LEVEL (obsolete, do not use)
1 Retained- Failure of State Testing - LEAP grade 08
  • Student being retained in grade 8 due to failure of LEAP 21.
2 Promoted- Placed in Options HS Campus
3 Promoted- Placed in Pre-Employ MS Campus
4 Promoted- Appeal Granted
