  1. * - Failure due to attendance - When posting a Marking period grade or Sem grade (not Final grade) either through the Classroom Gradebook, Post Grades Master, or Post Grades By Student, enter the numeric grade and then the asterisk (*), and Save. This will add "Failure due to attendance" in the comments section of the report card. Attendance By Course and History also provides a way to add asterisks to students.
NOTE that if a course already has a manually entered Semester grade which is indicated by the upper case grade, then the upper case Semester grade has to be backspaced out and saved using Report Card mode. Then the Marking period grade and Semester grade will be correct for the * Attendance failure.
  2. # - Failure due to district policy - This will appear next to a semester or final grade average in Post Grades Master if the student failed to meet the district's minimum requirements to pass for the semester or year. The pound (#) can also be entered in manually in the marking periods as well as the Sem/Final on Post Grade Master and Post Grades by Student.
  3. @ - Failure to exam violation - When posting an exam grade either through the Gradebook, Post Grades Master, or Post Grades By Student, enter the numeric value then the at symbol (@), and then save.
  4. ! - Overides system calculations - Any grade with this symbol added, in Post Grades Master and Post Grades By Student using the Marking period, Semester, and Final grade columns, will not let the system (Gradebook> Recalc Assignment Grades or Save), recalculate for the Average column grade. NOTE that this cannot be used on assignment grades in the Classroom Gradebook.
