How to

The Common Core State Standards are designed to be relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that students need for success in college and careers. This document will provide step by step instructions on how to associate the standards with lesson plans and assignments.

  1. Login to WebPams
  2. Select Grades on the left side of the screen.
  3. Select WebGradeBook.
  4. Select Subject at the bottom of the window for which an assignment is being created/edited
  5. Select Marking Period at the bottom of the window for which an assignment is being created/edited

At this point you will need to either start the process of creating a new assignment or you will need to edit an existing assignment.

When creating a new assignment the steps below will walk you through the process of attaching the standards to the assignment.

  1. Select the Assignment icon at the top of the gradebook window.
  2. Select New.
  3. Enter the Assignment Title, Category, and Grade Type.
  4. Do NOT use the Curriculum Unit, Topic, or the GLEs fields.
  5. Click in the Core Standards field.
  6. A set of domains (English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies) will appear on the left of the screen.
  7. At this time there are only English and Mathematics domains, clusters, and standards. Science and Social Studies will be added as they become available.
  8. Each set of domains is further divided into one or more Clusters.
  9. Each cluster has one or more standards. After selecting a Cluster, the standards will be listed on the right side of the screen with a light brown background color of each standard.
  10. To select a standard, click the green plus sign at the top left corner of the standard. The background color will change to a blue background and the green X will change to a red X.
  11. The selected standard(s) will appear at the bottom of the screen.
  12. To unselect a standard, click the red X. The background color will return to the original light brown and the red X will be replaced with the original green X.
  13. To save the selected standards, click the Submit button at the bottom right of the window.
  14. The standards selection window goes away. The Assignment window will be on the screen with the selected standards listed in the Core Standards field.
  15. Continue entering information about the Assignment and save the assignment.

If the assignment already exists, use the method of editing an assignment with which you are familiar; then, follow the steps above beginning with step ____ to add the standards.
